Charles Taylor
Our story begins with a man called Charles Taylor. Back in 1886, he began his business, C. E. Taylor and Sons, supplying the Yorkshire region with exceptional tea and coffee. He understood that making a proper cup of tea or coffee meant thinking about every aspect of the process, including the water.
Tea and Coffee Shops
A few years later Charles opened a number of ‘Kiosk’ tea and coffee shops. These were busy, bustling cafés which included tasting rooms where local guest‐house owners could come to taste and choose blends suited to their local water. Today, it's the home of our sister company, Bettys - while we keep the Taylors tradition alive just across town at Pagoda House.
Yorkshire Tea
In 1977 we launched the Yorkshire Tea brand, which is now perhaps our most famous offering.

Even though we’re a little bigger today, our independent values haven't changed. We’ve never compromised on our love of fairness, flavour and quality, and our business is still family-owned. And we're still completely, utterly devoted to the art of tea and coffee.

Our out of home trade has also grown and we are proud that businesses such as LEON and LNER have chosen to serve our products, as well as hundreds of independent restaurants, pubs, cafés and hotels across the country.
